Don't Cry 05:06
Don’t cry Though we’re living in a mixed up, insane, crazy world Don’t cry Don’t cry Though everything is upside down and inside out Don’t cry Maybe today it gets better for you Maybe today it gets better for you Don’t cry Though you’re swimming up stream, stuck in quicksand hanging by a thread Don’t cry Don’t cry Though it feels like the weight of the world is on your head Don’t cry Maybe today it gets better for you Maybe today it gets better for you Don’t cry Though you’re waiting for it all To fall apart again Don’t cry Don’t cry Though no matter what you do You just can’t seem to win Don’t cry Maybe today it gets better for you Maybe today it gets better for you It's alright Don't cry

At half past eight the ritual begins That’s when the regulars roll on in Drinking every night to forget their pain Hiding the teardrops that fall like rain The jukebox cries another lonesome tune Drink another drink and bark at the moon Mickey’s getting loaded on tonic and gin Dousing all the fires that burn within With a trembling hand he’ll raise his glass But the clock keeps a ticking and the dies been cast His day of reckoning it's coming soon Until that happens he'll just bark at the moon Diamond Bill likes whiskey, straight no ice Though his life’s a mess he’ll give you advice Never trust a woman, is what he says But we know damn well why his woman left Sweep it all away with a dusty broom Drink another drink and bark at the moon Sally likes her drinks sweet and smooth She gets a little tipsy when she has a few A damsel in distress on full display She's waiting for her knight to take her away Everybody knows she won’t be leaving too soon She'll drink another drink and bark at the moon Mirrors everywhere no place to hide From the ghosts of the past that lurk inside Leave it all aside if for just a while With a shot and a beer and a hollow smile Such is life in the smoke filled tomb Have another drink and bark at the moon

In the parking lot on a wintry night her smoke signal breath billows clouds of delight slowly, the window fog except for her footprints on the windshield in the parking lot now it ain’t much but it’s all that she’s got some fleeting moments in the parking lot

Waves keep on breaking crash at my door all this confusion I can't take any more I'll ride out the storm it can't last forever change in the weather Cold front approaching winds churn and growl pressure keeps falling minds run afoul I keep holding on and hope it gets better change in the weather in the eye of the storm an eerie calm forms and then you remember change in the weather Days blend together Weeks come and go fog keeps converging when it lifts, I don't know may it all float away light as a feather change in the weather

Tasha 04:01
The words they come out wrong And I don't know what to say I know I fucked it up And I hurt you But you're not answering my calls And my phone is almost dead I don't what I'll do If I've lost you I can't go home I can't go home I can't go home tonight It's finally last call And my drink is on its way I'm trying to get drunk But it's not working I know I went too far There's no one else to blame I cannot take it back Do you hate me I can't go home I can't go home I can't go home tonight They're closing up the bar They say I have to leave I've got no place to go And it's raining It doesn't matter now I'm in this bed I made I guess I'll walk the streets Until it's morning I can't go home I can't go home I can't go home tonight

She Sways 02:49
There's a girl I see everyday Whenever she's waiting for the bus She sways Ooh, she sways Like the trade winds blowing off the ocean She moves her hips in a slow and steady motion when she sways Ooh, she sways And there's something else I need to tell you She's always holding a Tweety Bird umbrella when she sways Ooh, she sways And you listen very carefully you can hear her singing bop bop ba da bop bop bop bop ba da bop bop when she sways Ooh, she sways

There's no flowers in the window There's no light above the door The frozen wind blows in the silence Shadows dance across the floor There's no flowers in the window And his car's out in the drive Just another cold reminder That your love will never be mine Is he there right now beside you? Do you look him in the eye? Does he know what we've been doing? In the cover of the night And It's got me feeling lonely 'Cause I won't see you tonight Though I long to touch and hold you And bask in your delight There's no flowers in the window Just another night on my own I'll be waiting for you baby And the next night that he's gone

Falling Down 03:56
You took it all away from me and left me with this misery your lying words they gnaw at me and haunt me with distorted dreams Slowly, I waste away Day after endless day I keep falling down falling How much more must I take? I thought I paid for my mistakes But time moves on and still I wait I'm locked in here with no escape Slowly, I waste away Day after endless day I keep falling down falling

The Winter 04:25
the days are getting shorter as the leaves depart the trees the nights are getting colder from the howling northern breeze the winter is approaching what a lonesome time of year flakes of snow falling falling like tears the moonlight gleams and shimmers off the ice the cruel wind screams all through the frozen night the winter is approaching what a lonesome time of year flakes of snow falling falling like tears

Butterfly 05:17
Butterfly Open your heart to me Won’t you come out to play There’s so many things that you haven’t seen Let me show you the way. Don’t fly away from me Don’t fly away Butterfly It’s all here for you Open your wings and seize the day Floating free on a velvet breeze Butterfly don’t fly away Don’t fly away from me Don’t fly away Butterfly You’re so beautiful Like a golden summer day Feel the sunlight caress your skin While the clouds all drift away Don’t fly away from me Don’t fly away

about

This record started as an EP project that was going to be released in the Fall of 2021. Things didn't go as planned. I moved across country from Seattle to New York State and had to dismantle my beloved Tangled Wire Studio.

After getting settled in New York, I constructed my new studio, MudBop and began the work of finishing my release. In the process, once "finished" songs were updated, new songs emerged and old songs were resurrected from deep dark passages. The result is "The Winter."

I hope you enjoy!
